50 Meadow Fritillaries! On top of that, there were at least 100 Little Yellows, Cloudless Sulphurs, Sleepy Oranges, Viceroys, and Pearl Crescents. We also saw Bronze Coppers, Checkered Whites, Common Checkered-Skippers, Common Sootywings, Variegated Fritillaries, and many more - 29 species in all.
Directions:
From the intersection of I-270 & I-70, travel north on
I-270 for 2 miles to MO Hwy-370.
Take Hwy-370 (west/north) and travel for 4.5 miles - crossing the
Missouri River- to Hwy-94.
Take Hwy-94 (north) and travel for 3.8 miles where Hwy-94 makes a
sharp turn to the left. Continue straight ahead at this intersection
on to Coounty Road H(CR-H).
Travel on CR-H for 1.8 miles to Island Road - watch for MDC sign at
intersection .
Turn left(north) on to Island Road and travel 1.9 miles to parking
area on the right (east) side of Island Road. (You may also park along Island road).
